Thank God for Peter

Peter was bidden to walk on water,
He lost faith and so he sank.
Christ reached his hand out to him
and saved him from drowning.

Peter cut off the Centurion’s ear
and Christ mercifully restored it so
Peter would not feel so bad about
the terrible thing he had done.

He would deny Christ three times
and knowing this, Christ still declared
“Upon this rock I will build my church”
Peter learned to have more courage.

Thanks to Peter I am forever reassured,
I am not the only one who makes mistakes.
Christ will reach his hand out to me as well,
as long as I am following in his footsteps.
